Tracking Software

The tracking software on our web server collects only the domain name of visitors’ computers, not their e-mail address. Domain name information is used only in aggregate and for internal purposes.

A Note About Cookies: Occasionally Catholic Research—Saint Mary’s Press uses cookies to store pertinent user information during a session. Cookies are small pieces of information that are stored in a designated file on your computer. We use cookies only to hold information during online sessions (for example, to hold answers to online surveys for short-term storage or to create a temporary ID for use in a multiple-session assessment).

Cookies

If you are using our Services via a browser you can restrict, block or remove cookies through your web browser settings. The Help menu on the menu bar of most browsers also tells you how to prevent your browser from accepting new cookies, how to delete old cookies, how to have the browser notify you when you receive a new cookie and how to disable cookies altogether.

Cookies only track individual IP addresses, not individuals themselves. Data we have on our users is based on account data and order history.

You can also visit http://www.allaboutcookies.org/ for more information on how to manage and remove cookies across a number of different internet browsers.

How long do cookies remain on my computer or devices?

The length of time that a cookie remains on your computer or mobile device depends on whether it is a “persistent” or “session” cookie. Session cookies last until you stop browsing and persistent cookies last until they expire or are deleted. Most of the cookies we use are persistent and will expire between 30 minutes and two years from the date they are downloaded to your device. See the section below on how to control cookies for more information on removing them before they expire.

We also use this technology to check if you have opened our emails, so we can see if they are being delivered correctly and are of use to the recipient.

Performance Cookies
These cookies collect information about how visitors use a website, for instance, which pages visitors go to most often, and if they get error messages from web pages. These cookies do not collect information that identifies a visitor. All information these cookies collect is aggregated and therefore anonymous. It is only used to improve how a website works.

These cookies are necessary for the website to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. These are used to let you log in, to ensure site security, and to provide shopping cart functionality. Without this type of technology, our Services won’t work properly or won’t be able to provide certain features and functionalities.
